Portage Township students who don't have access to Wi-Fi at home can now go to the Portage Police Department to link up to the internet.

The project is the result of a partnership between the city and Portage Township Schools.

Through this partnership, Portage Township Schools has provided 15 Dell Latitude 2120 Netbooks and a rolling cart for students who may not have access to such a device or Wi-Fi, Police Chief Troy Williams said in a news release.

PTS students can go to the police department to use the device and free Wi-Fi inside the first- or second-floor lobby to assist them in completing their school work. A student just needs to go to the lobby and ask that one of the clerical staff open the cart and then turn the device back in afterward.

The clerical division is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The station is at 6260 Central Ave.
