VALPARAISO — To commemorate its 20th anniversary, the Porter County Community Foundation celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Week  earlier this month by surprising 20 nonprofit partners throughout Porter County with small gifts to support the nonprofits’ good work.

The Foundation staff traveled throughout the county, personally delivering the gifts to the nonprofit organizations. Some of the stops included delivering 30 bags of chicken to Portage Township Food Pantry, games, chalk and supplies to Hilltop Neighborhood House and 200 pounds of dog food to Lakeshore PAWS.

“I loved having the opportunity to surprise people who didn’t know we were coming and to witness their overwhelming appreciation for our deliveries,” said Barb Young, Foundation president. “Our goal was to brighten their day.”

Additionally, the Foundation staff delivered gifts to the following nonprofit organizations: Boys & Girls Club of Porter County – Duneland Club, Call-A-Ride, The Caring Place, Chesterton Art Center, Duneland Family YMCA, Dunes Learning Center, Family & Youth Services Bureau Tot Shop, Housing Opportunities, Kouts Fire Department, Opportunity Enterprises, Portage Township YMCA, Porter County Career Center, St. Agnes, Valparaiso Family YMCA and VNA Phoenix Center.
