 Carrie Koch

Carrie Koch has been working at the Valparaiso Family YMCA for 10 years and enjoys her job.

She began there as a group instructor and taught group exercise classes.

"Then they needed help in the office and I did that and then was office assistant," Koch said. She is now wellness program coordinator.

"I coordinate part of the wellness program and do the group exercise schedule," she said. "That's a big tack because there are over 100 classes a week and I supervise all the instructors and there are over 40."

Koch also helps with special events and coordinates events and trips and luncheons with the seniors.

Koch loves working at the Y because its flexible and the "staff is very supportive."

"What's really important is having people to connect to in group classes," she said. "They need to belong and keep coming and commit. If they connect and get a great workout, that is a plus."

Koch lives in Valparaiso with her husband, Eric, and two sons.
