EAST CHICAGO — Officers found a man who was shot in the chest parked at a GoLo gas station.

At 3:06 p.m. Friday police responded to the GoLo gas station at 1402 Carroll Street in the Roxanna section of East Chicago, East Chicago Deputy Chief Jose Rivera said.

Officers found 28-year-old Jacque Anderson, of Gary, sitting in a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound to the chest, Rivera said. The vehicle was parked on the east side of the gas station.

Anderson was transported to St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago where he was pronounced dead. The Lake County coroner's office ruled Anderson's death as a homicide.

Witnesses told police they heard gunshots in the area, however no shooter has been identified, Rivera said.

Rivera said police are searching for suspects and surveillance images will be released as police review video footage in the area.
