32-year-old charged with Dollar General armed robbery


HAMMOND – A Gary man has been accused of robbing a Hammond Dollar General while wielding a knife, alongside drug charges, police said.

On Wednesday, Carlton Robinson, 32, was charged with armed robbery, committing the robbery while displaying a knife, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana, according to the Hammond Police Department.

On Friday Robinson allegedly robbed Dollar General in the 2600 block of 169th Street in Hammond, Hammond police Lt. Steve Kellogg said.

Robinson is currently in custody at the Lake County Sheriff’s Department with his bail set at $40,000.

“Detectives would like to thank Hammond Police Department K-9 Officer T. Schultz for locating and apprehending the suspect,” Kellogg said.
