The Ultimate: Wine Country in Winter

The southwestern Michigan wineries are, of course, decorated for the holidays and taking a drive through Lake Michigan wine country on a late afternoon to do some tasting and shopping might just be the greatest stress-saving idea I've ever heard. On Saturday night, Round Barn Winery, Brewery and Distillery locations in Baroda and Union Pier are going to be open until 9 p.m. The Baroda location comes with the added value outdoor ambiance and light display at the tasting room after sundown. And Colleen Ryan, publicist for Round Barn, suggests that while you are shopping, try a festive ‘DiVine Peppermint Delight'...only available during the holidays. The delicious martini is made with 1 part DiVine Vodka, 3 parts Peppermint Mocha Cream, a splash of Round Barn Cranberry Wine and garnished with a candy cane. Over the weekend, I'm going to be eating at Chef Jean Joho's Eiffel in Las Vegas. But if you want the true luxury ultimate experience in Chicago, plan an outing to the Chef's signature Chicago restaurant Everest, high atop the CBOE in the financial district. A perfect winter/holiday getaway.
