I understand the concerns about teachers being armed, but after reading the reasoning behind it on the front page, I was shocked at what I read.
I could understand the insurance thing, even the "Who's the shooter?" concern. Seriously though, does anyone in their right mind really think because its illegal here in Indiana that it can't happen here?
Check with the insurance company about installing hidden safes on the grounds and let the teachers decide if they want to do it. Those who do, send them to police-style training.
This is just the beginning of discussions, but I believe the coach who died shielding his students would possibly still have been alive if he were trained, armed and possibly could have ended this without more loss of life other than the shooter.
