2017 Letters to the editor stock

Thanks to the wonderful young man who stepped up and was willing to try and do the Heimlich maneuver, my daughter is alive today.

We were at a restaurant when she began choking. She couldn't talk, breathe or cough. She was in serious trouble. I asked for help, and he responded. He is our hero. I wish I had asked his name or at least bought him dinner, but all I could think of was she might have died right then, right there.

According to what I have read, if a person cannot talk, breathe or cough, they have three minutes until they pass out and 10 minutes until they die. This young man definitely saved her life.
