Catholic Bishop Donald Hying will stand against the violence of abortion this Sunday afternoon in the annual “life chain” vigil. All are invited to join him.

Bishop Hying writes, “How can anyone not see that the systemic, state-sanctioned killing of millions of unborn children has coarsened and diminished our respect for human life in all its forms?”

In Porter County, we will stand silently from 2-3 p.m. along Lincolnway starting at Roosevelt (where the bishop will be) in Valparaiso, along Indian Boundary Road (west of U.S. 49) in Chesterton, and along Central Avenue (starting at City Hall) in Portage.

Many signs are available. Bring a chair if needed.

Afterward, everyone is invited to a cookout at Kirchoff Park, on Roosevelt in Valpo, or at St. Patrick’s Classic Gym in Chesterton.

Be not discouraged. Every baby who survives is a victory for life.

Richard Stith, Valparaiso
