My wife and I laughed Tuesday evening as we watched the Chicago TV news report numerous Cook County Board of Election issues, although we were not surprised. We looked at each other and said how happy we were to have recently left Chicago and Cook County for Valpo and Porter County. But much to our chagrin, when we received The Times this morning, it was "deja vu all over again."
I cannot help but ask how a county office that needs only to "show up" one day every two years (yes, I know there is constant work being done) can allow the lack of efficiency that was exhibited yesterday.
We, the voting public, deserve a much higher standard of care, as we entrust our county with one of our most sacred possessions, our vote.
I can only hope that between now and Nov. 3, 2020, the problems that surfaced yesterday will be attended to.
