Tea Party doesn't care about public service

  • Updated

The U.S. Postal Service continues delivery mail during the Republican government shutdown. USPS finances are generated by postage sales only and receives zero tax dollars.

The Oxford Strategic Consulting Firm ranks the USPS as the most efficient in the industrialized world. However, the USPS is facing its own shutdown as Republican legislators are steering mail service toward privatization.

This is being achieved by Congress' 2006 mandate for the USPS to shell out $5.5 billion a year to prefund retiree health care fund to year 2081. The mandate does not have anything to do with improving mail service but everything to do with bankrupting it. The postal rate increase set for 2014 is the result of the onerous $5.5 billion mandate.

Leave it to Tea Party shills for corporate money influence. They don't care about government, public service or the USPS. The 2014 mid-term elections is imminent.
