What a wonderful story by Marc Chase about Chesterton High School senior Tommy Benson taking Crown Point's Sophia Burns to the "Night to Shine" special needs prom at Faith Church in Dyer.

Tommy reached out to a young lady he did not know but was aware that he could play a small part in making it a special day for Sophia.

I think all of us have a special place in our hearts for those with special needs, but Tommy did things one step better by reaching out to take Sophia to her big dance.

Oftentimes in today's world, teens don't always get the credit for the good things that they do, but it was nice to see this young man get recognized even though he didn't do it for the recognition. Tommy Benson, thanks for what you did. Tommy's parents should be proud of the son they raised.
