“We believe that strong families, based on marriage between a man and a woman, are the foundation of society.” The message is crystal clear: Members of the community and allies of LGBTQ persons, stay away.
Last Saturday, Indiana GOP officials met in Evansville to affirm their party’s platform. They left demonstrating no progress and furthering insularity, exclusivity and lack of diversity — in particular, trampling on the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
While the party relentlessly markets its commitment to children and families, evidently those rules are thrown out the window if your child is gay.
We can disagree about taxation. We can disagree about how to solve health care. We can disagree about how to promote growth in our state.
We cannot afford to disagree about discrimination and hatred. For shame.
