Munster junior Kay Foley sparkled in Friday's prelims in the IHSAA state girls swimming and diving meet in Indianapolis.
Foley captured the top seed (4 minutes, 48.2 seconds) in the 500-yard freestyle for Saturday's finals, shaving more than seven seconds from her qualifying time. She also has the second seed in the 200 free (1:47.68). She helped the Seahorses pick up the 13th seed in the 200 free relay (1:38.23).
The top 16 swimmers qualify the finals, and the top eight earn spots in the championship heat.
Chesterton junior Jaclyn Klimczak picked up the second seed in the 100 backstroke (54.44). She's also the seventh seed in the 200 individual medley (2:02.3). Younger sister Maisyn, a freshman, is seeded fifth in the 500 free (4:55.94) and 14th in the 200 free (1:52.3).
Teammate Lauryn Kallay is seeded fifth in the 200 free (1:49.79) and 11th in the 100 free (51.6). Lauren Unruh is seeded 10th in the 500 free (4:58.94). Olivia Krueger is seeded 14th in the 100 fly (56.72). The Trojans are seeded fifth in the 200 medley relay (1:44.99), ninth in the 400 free relay (3:29.95) and 10th in the 200 free relay (1:37.97).
Valparaiso's Elizabeth Simac is seeded ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.43). Teammate Jacklyn Bontrager is seeded 16th in the 200 free (1:52.57).
Crown Point's Jordan Artim is seeded 14th in the 100 breast (1:05.05).
Lake Central owns the 14th seed in the 200 free relay (1:38.25) and the 16th seed in the 400 free relay (3:36.35).
Diving prelims being at 8 a.m. Saturday. All finals begin at noon at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI.
