The Illiana Christian boys cross country team had five of the top nine finishers Saturday to win the Christian Schools Invitational in Michigan.
The Vikings won the meet with 32 points. Grandville (Mich.) Calvin Christian was second at 60.
Illiana's Tony Wondaal led the way with a time of 16 minutes, 39.20 seconds -- good for third.
Nick Fiene was fifth (16:40.09). The Vikings' Jordan Dekker (17:04.69), Kevin Vroegh (17:10.37) and Nick Wondaal (17:19.78) finished seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.
REAVIS INVITATIONAL: Homewood-Flossmoor's Matt Aniywo was sixth overall (16:29.3) as the Vikings finished sixth with 182 points in the 17-team field.
Sandburg won with 52 points and Marist's Kyle Hauser was the individual winner (15:57). Marian Catholic was eighth (229 points) and Mount Carmel 14th (353 points).
Marian's top runner was Cameron Howard, 21st in 17:13.
Girls Cross Country
CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS INVITATIONAL: Illiana Christian finished third overall with 71 points as Grand Rapids (Mich.) Christian won with 60 points.
Illiana's Alexa Beezhold (20:07.3), Lauren Brink (20:25.61) and Kristen Brink (20:32.07) finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
REAVIS INVITATIONAL: Marian Catholic placed 11th overall with 267 points. Lyons Twp. was the team champion at 41.
Marist's Maggie O'Loughlin was the individual winner (18:39). Marian's top runner was Caitlin Henry, 30th in a time of 21:24.
Girls Tennis
LINCOLN-WAY EAST INVITATIONAL: Homewood-Flossmoor won the team title with 27 points as Faith Huckabee took the No. 1 singles title.
Sophia Osabuohien and Kaela Mack finished second at No. 2 doubles.
Boys Soccer
Beecher 1, Clifton Central 0: Bailey Schultz's goal gave the Bobcats (7-2) the win. Cody Wyatt had the assist.
Mark Hall had two saves and Garret Short had one.
"It is nice to get the win, but it is frustrating to control the ball as well as we did and not find the back of the net more often," Beecher coach Dawn Compton said. "If we continue to play like that, it's going to catch up with us."
Bloom Twp. 3, Joliet West 2: Andres Pimentel had two goals and Gustavo Zambrano had one to lead the Blazing Trojans (6-3) to victory in pool play at the Lincoln-Way Tournament.
Cesar Flores had an assist and Juan Ruiz three saves.
Herscher 7, Illinois Lutheran 2: Justin Clayton scored for the Chargers (8-2) in the home loss to the Tigers.
Girls Volleyball
RICH SOUTH TOURNAMENT: Lincoln-Way West beat Bloom Township 25-23, 25-16 for the championship.
On the day, Bloom went 4-1. The Blazing Trojans' Justice Howard and Mariah Middleton were named to the all-tournament team as was Thornwood's Melva Smith.
Boys Golf
PROVIDENCE INVITATIONAL: Loyola Academy won with 299 strokes and the Ramblers' Michael Abrahamson claimed medalist honors with a 71.
Illiana Christian was 15th (341), Homewood-Flossmoor 19th (346) and Mount Carmel 25th (366).
Jon Zandstra led Illiana Christian with a 77.

Perspectives Charter/Leadership 38, Washington 0: Aaron Cruz threw for 220 yards, but the Patriots (1-2, 0-1) could not find the end zone in a Public League Windy City Conference loss at Eckersall Stadium.
St. Francis de Sales game postponed: The St. Francis de Sales at Trinity Lutheran (Ind.) game was postponed due to field conditions, according to St. Francis coach Martin Quiroga.
The game has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. Oct. 6.
